‘Astronaut for a Day’ returns for its 2025 edition, launched by the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, and the Ministry of Sports.

Announced by ministers Lex Delles, Claude Meisch, and Georges Mischo, this initiative aims to inspire young people to explore careers in the space sector.

After the success of its 2023 edition, the competition is expanding to Estonia and Austria. Various events throughout the year will highlight space industry career opportunities. Minister Lex Delles emphasized,

“Talent remains essential for the development of the space sector in Luxembourg and Europe.”

Becoming an ‘Astronaut for a Day’

Open to students aged 13 and above in Luxembourg, the selection process mirrors international astronaut recruitment. Candidates will face logical reasoning and physical tests between March and July 2025. The European-wide competition will culminate in a parabolic zero-gravity flight on October 14, 2025.

Finalists will join the exclusive ‘Astronauts for a Day’ class and become space ambassadors. Additional events, including conferences and a ‘Space Summer Academy,’ will provide deeper insights into space careers.
